A lucky collaboration with writer friend Jacqueline Briggs Martin created "Creekfinding: A True Story" about the restoration of a creek in north eastern Iowa. The cover deadline was approaching and I was working on the final art when Mike Osterholm, the real guy who rebuilt the creek, told us his beloved dog Max had died. Max had been there all during the restoration. I had time to "collage" Max in the cover art as a tribute.
